This month from the Kid Clinic: Do you have summer plans for your children

With summer coming soon, children will be home and many parents are stuck with what to do with their children. Here are a few ideas to help keep them active, happy, and without breaking a budget.

The first is to set a schedule. A schedule can be as relaxed as you want or as strict as needed, whatever fits your child best. Young children especially need a schedule to feel secure and happy.

The second is to have a list of activities to do here in Gillette. This can include going to one of the more than 30 parks in the City, swimming at the City Pool, go to the Campbell County Public Library, teach your kids how to ride their bike, play baseball, play basketball, go skating, and any other activity that may fit your lifestyle and interests of your children.

The third idea is to compile a list of events to attend in Gillette. Take in the Fourth of July fireworks, parades, the National High School Finals Rodeo, and so much more! There are a couple of organizations that keep an online calendar of events in town—check them out below:

Take your list of activities and build those into your schedule with one event every other week, for example. Children tend to have more positive interactions with siblings and parents when they feel secure, are active, and have minimal stress. The end goal of any summer plan is to have fun!
