Tynelle Fields Selected for Journey Program

GILLETTE, Wyo. – March 27, 2023 – Tynelle Fields was recently selected to be part of Campbell County Health’s first Journey Program cohort. A Campbell County High School senior, Tynelle, will join four other high school students who are aspiring healthcare professionals through this unique education program.

Originally from Kentucky, Tynelle and her family moved to Gillette when she was three. Her experiences on the receiving end of healthcare have guided her toward becoming a healthcare provider. She has a passion for caring for others and has seen healthcare’s impact on those who need it. Tynelle’s father, who passed away from cancer when she was nine, has been a guiding beacon in her healthcare journey.

“I want to be able to make people feel better,” said Fields. “My family has been on the receiving end of healthcare a lot, and those experiences made me want to go into healthcare.”

Healthcare runs in the Fields family. Tynelle’s great-grandmother was a nurse, her mom has a medical billing and coding degree, and her twin sister Myra is an aspiring EMT. Tynelle wants to touch the lives of those in her care by helping them heal and get better. Her emphasis on patient care and bettering the lives of others stems in part from her experiences watching her mother receive care.

“I saw my mom get really ill,” said Fields. “But through the care she received, she was able to get better.”

Tynelle is on the Journey Program’s respiratory therapy (RT) track, the only one in her cohort to do so. She’s excited about becoming a respiratory therapist and knows this is only the beginning of her journey. She shared that she is interested in eventually becoming a registered nurse down the line. For now, though, Tynelle is taking in and celebrating this milestone in her journey - a milestone that has given her tremendous relief and cleared her path toward a future in healthcare.

“The Journey Program has taken a huge weight off my shoulders,” said Fields. “I don’t have to worry about the cost of school, and I have the support and mentors I need to be successful.”

When not at school or work, Tynelle loves to sing. She has participated in choirs throughout elementary and high school and has had the opportunity to take her talent to national honor choir events across the country. Recently Tynelle has also been exploring musical theater - expanding her musical skills. Tynelle shared that she also has a passion for softball though she hasn’t played much recently. She hopes to get back into softball in the future.

Join us in congratulating Tynelle on her admission to the Journey Program and stay tuned for more as she launches her healthcare career and becomes a leader in the next generation of what it means to embody Excellence Every Day!

The Journey Program is a multi-year program that pairs education and job training. The 2023 cohort will enroll in professional development programs at CCH, and CCH will pay for their college classes and materials.
