Wyoming Regional EMS Celebrates Accomplishments at Open House Event

GILLETTE, Wyo. - September 8, 2023 - Wyoming Regional EMS (WREMS) celebrated a milestone on Tuesday, as they marked roughly one year since they were awarded the contract to provide EMS services to the city and county of Sheridan. This milestone is a testament to the collaborative efforts of Campbell County Health and Sheridan Memorial Hospital, who joined forces to establish WREMS.

WREMS, managed by CCH-EMS, has quickly become an indispensable part of the regional healthcare landscape, and their dedication to serving the community is evident in their outstanding performance over the past year. From January 1 to August 30, WREMS has been on the front lines, responding to an impressive 2,622 calls.

The team at WREMS has gone the extra mile – quite literally. They have covered an astonishing 29,395 miles during their calls, which is equivalent to circumnavigating the globe 1.18 times. This remarkable feat underscores their commitment to reaching every corner of Sheridan County to provide critical emergency medical services around the clock.

WREMS has not only been responding to routine 911 calls; they have handled interfacility transports, ensuring patients who require a higher level of care are able to receive it. From January 1 to August 30, the WREMS team responded to 24 strokes, 9 STEMIs, and 35 cardiac arrests with skill and dedication, increasing the chances of survival for those in crisis.

“Wyoming Regional EMS has truly excelled in its mission to provide high-quality, timely emergency medical services to the residents of Sheridan County," said Chris Beltz, Director of Urgent and Emergent Services at CCH "This one-year anniversary and open house are significant milestones, and we are proud of the dedication and expertise demonstrated by our team. We are grateful to the communities we serve for their trust and support."

The open house event on Tuesday was an opportunity for the community to meet the dedicated individuals behind WREMS and learn more about the life-saving services they provide. Stakeholders from across Campbell County and Sheridan County gathered together to celebrate the success of WREMS. Governor Mark Gordon attended the open house and spoke to the importance of EMS services and signaled his support of regionalization efforts. The event also served as a platform to express gratitude to all the first responders who have worked tirelessly to ensure the well-being of Sheridan County residents.

As Wyoming Regional EMS looks ahead to the future, they remain committed to their mission of providing top-notch emergency medical care to the community. WREMS has set the standard for EMS regionalization in Wyoming, and Campbell County Health and Sheridan Memorial Hospital lead the way in regional partnerships enhancing care for Wyomingites.
