About Paul
Dr. Paul Rigsby, DO, never thought he’d be back in his hometown. Gillette’s newest radiologist was raised in Gillette and attended the University of Wyoming before medical school at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Radiology and a fellowship in MRI at Michigan State University.
“I had wanted to get back to the West because of the camping the great outdoors,” said Dr. Rigsby. “I was perusing jobs one day and saw the opportunity in Radiology. Dr. Lawrence and I kept in touch, and also talked to the anesthesia group about my wife.”
Lora Rigsby, DO is an anesthesiologist who will be joining Northern Plains Anesthesia Associates on a part-time basis. She attended medical school at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her anesthesia residency at McLaren Oakland Medical Center, in Pontiac, MI, a 328-bed Level II trauma center.
It’s important to both the Drs. Rigsby to treat their patients like they would a family member.
“I see people when they are most vulnerable,” said Dr. Lora Rigsby. “They meet me once before surgery, and then trust me to bring them safely back.”
“I always try to remember that when I’m looking at images I’m really looking at people,” said Dr. Paul Rigsby. “It adds an additional element to the process.”
The Rigsby’s three children, ages six, three and two months, are their priority when they’re not at work.
“I want to teach them how to camp and fish,” says Dr. Paul Rigsby. “We took a mini camping trip last week and they just loved it.”
“It was such a juggling act for us when we were in school and residency,” says Dr. Lora Rigsby. “It’s great to be able to live and practice where I don’t have to compromise family with work.”
The Rigsbys are excited to be here in Gillette and are looking forward to meeting new people and making this their home.
