CCMH Maternal Child Nurses Receive Certification

GILLETTE, WY - Four registered nurses in the Maternal Child Unit at Campbell County Health (CCMH) recently received certification as Certified Lactation Consultants from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). One registered nurse received certification in Inpatient Obstetrics from the National Certification Corporation (NCC).

Vicki Sarver, Jill Blackman, Megan Jackson and Carene Weinand completed the five-day Certified Lactation Counselor training course and are eligible to use the credential "CLC". The program trains and assesses competency with a strong focus on patient counseling skills. The content included breastfeeding management training, strategies for infants with special circumstances and ways to help mothers with successful breastfeeding.

Kelly Gebauer received certification in Inpatient Obstetrics. In addition to successfully completing the certification exam, eligible nurses must have at least 24 months experience in that specialty area and be employed in that specialty area for a minimum of 2,000 hours.

The National Certification Corporation (NCC) is a not for profit organization that provides a national credentialing program for nurses, physicians and other licensed health care personnel. Certification is awarded to nurses in the obstetric, gynecologic, and neonatal nursing specialties.

Since its inception in 1975, NCC has awarded certification or certificates of added qualification to more than 100,000 licensed health care personnel.
