Welcome Dr. Fort, Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine specialist

"I wasn't looking for a job."

Dr. Peter Fort had a busy practice in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine in Orlando, Florida when a recruiter told him about an opportunity in Gillette, Wyoming.

"It sounded perfect," said Dr. Fort. "Everything I have done has prepared me for this practice."

Dr. Fort started his own practice 13 years ago with plenty of internal medicine patients, developed his own sleep center and saw it through the accreditation process, and gained skill and experience in primary and pulmonary care. As he begins his practice at Campbell County Clinics-Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, he knows that the expectations are high.

"I can never fill the shoes of Dr. Ramzi Ammari," said Dr. Fort. "I can just be myself and hope people will take to me like Green Bay (Packers) to Aaron Rodgers."

Dr. Fort believes in educating his patients, and giving them options about their treatment.

"There are lots of things we can do, even when it seems impossible or they have end-stage disease. I don't ever want people to think there is no hope. One of the first patients I saw here will be referred for a lung transplant."

Dr. Fort's family will be joining him in Gillette at the end of the school year. Wife Cynthia Eaton is an OB GYN physician. No longer currently practicing, she started a biotech company to develop nanosilver-microscopic sliver particles used to treat infection and promote wound healing. Son Travis attends college at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, and 16-year old Austin is a high school sophomore. At 6'4", Austin plays high school football and wants to be the next Tom Brady.

When asked what he wants to tell the medical staff and employees, Dr. Fort urged everyone to use him as a resource.

"I came here to be of assistance in managing patients," said Dr. Fort. "There can be many lung issues during surgery, and consulting for primary care and all the specialties. I'm ready to go to work."

Dr. Fort is now accepting new patients. Contact Campbell County Clinics--Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at 688.3636.
