CCMH Takes Disaster Preparedness Seriously

At CCMH we are taking disaster preparedness seriously. Many of our senior management (including me) and our mid-level management staff have attended training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) center in Anniston, Ala. (The CDP is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.)

I can personally attest to the seriousness of the training, and its quality. Real-life scenarios are presented and worked through under very intense training circumstances. The training prepares not only hospitals, but all emergency providers (healthcare, EMS, law enforcement, fire, and other governmental agencies) to work cooperatively in a structured framework in order to maintain order and reduce the miscommunication that can take place in a disaster.

I am very proud of our management personnel who have taken the time to attend this training, and I know it has prepared us as a healthcare team should we face the unfortunate circumstances of a disaster in Campbell County.

While you can never prepare for every eventuality, I believe CCMH has taken steps to be better prepared to care for our community should a disaster occur in our community.
