Once again, the Campbell County Healthcare Foundation (CCHCF) put on a great Festival of Trees, and in the process raised more than $190,000—a record breaking year! I find the generosity of our community just incredible.

Andy FitzgeraldThe proceeds from this fundraiser go the Lifeline program and the Close to Home Hospice Hospitality House. There are 123 subscribers to the Lifeline program, which allows people to remain independent by wearing a Lifeline personal help button. Activating the personal help button alerts a call center and dispatches help to the person in need. Each year the Lifeline program receives $20,000 from Festival of Trees to purchase needed equipment. This includes the units themselves, batteries, personal help buttons, maintenance of the units, and miscellaneous supplies like wrist bands and neck cords.

The Hospice House has also been an absolute blessing to many families in our community. These funds help this program to operate and benefit not only the patients but their family members, and this help comes at the most difficult time in their lives.

My hat goes off to Nachelle McGrath, CCHCF Executive Director, Karen Clarke, CCHCF Chair, and the Festival of Trees committee who meet throughout the year to plan this spectacular community event. All I can say is thank you for your efforts. You make our community a better place.

Andy
