Welcome WWAMI Clerkship Students

OB GYN Specialists is proud to be associated with the WWAMI medical education program as teaching faculty for the University of Washington Medical School (UWSOM).

Chris Link, a third-year medical student, is one of the students who will be in Gillette for the program. Chris is interested in practicing medicine in a rural area and looks forward to the transition from classroom learning to clinical experience. He calls southwest Washington home, and is enjoying his first visit to Wyoming.

Created in 1971, WWAMI is a partnership between four western states (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) that lack medical schools. Students who complete the WWAMI program receive their doctor of medicine degree (MD) from the University of Washington in Seattle.

The WWAMI program reserves 20 seats each year for qualified Wyoming residents. Students accepted to the program spend their first year on the University of Wyoming campus and the second year at the UWSOM. The third and fourth years are spent at selected clinical sites throughout the WWAMI region.

In addition to OB GYN Specialists, WWAMI clerkship students have been placed this year at Big Horn Pediatrics and Rodney Biggs, MD.

OB GYN Specialists will sponsor four medical clerkship students this year as they complete a six-week rotation in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The students will be working closely with Dr. Anderson, Dr. Biggs and Dr. Linden in an intense learning environment.
