Department Discovery-February: Information Systems

This month’s Department Discovery highlights CCH’s Information Systems.

Information Systems, directed by Chris Harrison, is tasked with providing safe and efficient patient care through information technology. His staff of 23 (with one position open—learn more at www.cchwyo.org/jobs) includes clinical and financial analysts, network and server/system administrators, Helpdesk specialists, desktop analysts, and a physician trainer.

According to Chris, the need for technology in healthcare is growing—and fast. Information System’s has become involved in several areas where, just a few years ago, it wouldn’t have been involved. Especially when it comes to keeping everyone and everything connected. According to Chris, interoperability has become the expectation rather than the exception.

As of this month, Information Systems has a total of 52 projects (WOW) and initiatives in the works, but the migration to the new Meditech Pathways platform is the most exciting. This project will improve CCH’s Electronic Medical Record initiative—or, what Chris refers to as, “one patient, one record.”
