Born in Philadelphia, I graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. When I was given my diploma I prayed that I might everyday be a physical and spiritual healer – I have echoed that thought every morning since.
Board certified in Internal Medicine, I began private practice. My “older patients” caught my interest and I soon became certified in Geriatric Medicine. I am committed to walking the whole journey with my patients, who led me to nursing home medicine and end of life work, so I became certified in Palliative and Hospice Medicine. I often get asked how I made it to Wyoming. I think it was me challenging my spirit of new discovery and interest in rural medicine.
I have an outpatient geriatric practice (Campbell County Medical Group Geriatric Medicine) and am Medical Director of Pioneer Manor and Hospice. Many a time I am queried how I am not sad working with nursing home residents and the dying. On the contrary – they teach me wisdom, hope, courage and how to truly live. I also know modern medicine is improving the quality and quantity of life for the elderly. Yes, my patients might be challenged by the technologies, yet they remind us daily the value of sitting down and listening to them.
Indoor and outdoor gardening is my passion. My dog helps dig the holes. I am a member of” The Phoenix Girls”, we are amid completing half marathons in every state – 25 done. When I grow up I hope to be a botanical illustrator. In medicine as in my life I believe in possibility. As the quote above my office desk reads, “Once you choose hope, anything is possible.”
Thank you Dr. Meade, for providing our patients with excellent care.
