Department Discovery August 2015: Home Medical Resources

The August Department Discovery shines a light on Campbell County Health's Home Medical Resources.

Home Medical Resources is an HQAA-accredited provider of durable medical equipment, supplies and services. This is the place where patients can purchase breast pumps, nebulizers, portable oxygen, rehab supplies such as compression socks and wraps, sleep therapy CPAPs, and walkers, among many other supplies with a physician order.

Home Medical Resources also provides pickup and delivery service for most medical equipment. Staff take the time to ensure that when a patient's equipment arrives a staff member is available to assist with set-up, education and adjusting to the equipment.

According to April Glick, Home Medical Resources Manager, this year the eight-person department is excited to be expanding their product lines as well as updating the showroom floor shelving. The outside of the building also got a bit of a facelift here recently, with some window covers that highlight Home Medical Resources most commonly purchased items.

One major perk about Home Medical Resources is that they are available to help local patients nationwide and when on vacation! "We are a member of a group that connects Home Medical Resources with more than 3600 companies just like us across the nation. This allows us to provide oxygen and other Durable Medical Equipment for traveling customers," says April. "We do oxygen for cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean and long distance airline flights. Our equipment has been to Germany, an African Safari and New Zealand. We have arranged for wheelchairs in Washington D.C. and special ordered a cane with a seat so you can take a rest while visiting all the great things our area has to offer. We also have all of our CPAP supplies in stock for pick up so you don't have to call an 800 number and place your order."

April mentioned that the department has grown tremendously over the last year, and her staff has been amazing each step of the way. "I want to thank each and every one in the department for their hard work and dedication! We have pulled together much like a family would to made sure we are successful and our patients receive the best care."
