August 2017 Volunteer Spotlight: Wayne Holyoak

Meet Wayne Holyoak, a valuable volunteer at Campbell County Health.

Wayne grew up in Gillette and retired to his wife’s family ranch in 2005 after a career in the U.S. Navy and as a clinical researcher in the pharmaceutical industry. He’s now using his computer and problem solving skills as a volunteer for the Professional Development (Education) department.

According to Lisa Coleman, E-Learning Specialist, Wayne helps with special projects and quality control.

“He’s performed research and assisted with formatting and uploading several years of data from an outdated computer system into Enrollware, our online enrollment and payment system,” said Lisa. “Wayne’s services have been instrumental during the past few EMSU (Emergency Medical Services University) events, helping set up event software and producing the post-conference certificates. He even attends EMSU to provide software support to the attendees, helping them to download and use the event app. He’s skilled with Microsoft Excel (we call him an Excel guru!) and using this knowledge, he helps us to reconcile data, searching for inconsistencies in data integrity.”

Wayne began volunteering in 2012, and logs about four to five hours per week. He says that in his experience electronic systems almost never work the way you want them to, and his forte is to find ‘work arounds’ to solve the problem at hand. He also enters student record data into NetLearning, the online education program used by employees to update their mandatory education, reviews the training courses and and creates the tests that students take after they complete their courses. He even created an online course in Medical Terminology for employees that don’t have clinical training, like registration specialists in the various clinics.

“Wayne Holyoak is a volunteer extraordinaire!” says Lisa.“ We are blessed that he gives his time and talents to help us in the Professional Development department. He’s an enormously wonderful person and a valued member of our team, who gives great attention and dedication to the projects he collaborates on. We are so grateful to him.”
