CCMH Maternal Child Department receives Care Award

GILLETTE, WY – Campbell County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) was recently awarded the International Board of Lactation Consultants (IBLCE®) Care Award. This award is given by the IBLCE and the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) to organizations and agencies in recognition for employing and training professionals who have or receive certification in lactation consultation. The IBLCE award recognizes lactation programs that are hospital-based, provide patient education, telephone support and follow-up calls, outpatient services and include peer instruction and training.
“Breastfeeding is an amazing mother and baby bonding opportunity, and seems like it should be a natural process, but there are often several things that don’t go quite as planned and breastfeeding can be very frustrating. We want to support our new moms and dads with the breastfeeding process and maintaining the training helps us help them be successful,” said Diana Moore, LPN, IBCLC, CLC; Lactation Coordinator.
CCMH’s Maternal Child department employs 14 certified lactation consultants who specialize in the clinical management of breastfeeding. Certified lactation consultants must pass a rigorous examination to earn certification.
CCMH offers free breastfeeding classes taught by Certified Lactation Consultants on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 7-9 pm. These classes are targeted toward expecting parents in their sixth to ninth month of pregnancy. Topics include breastfeeding benefits, preparation, and the initial basics and support. Registration is required and can be completed at www.cchwyo.org/prenatal.
Certified Lactation Consultants are also available for support and assistance 24/7 by calling 307-688-2200. Learn more about the services available at CCMH’s Maternal Child department at www.cchwyo.org/MC.
