Four CCH Employees Earn Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification

GILLETTE, WY – Campbell County Health (CCH) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) employees Tracy Arroyos, EMT-Paramedic; Jason Frye, EMT-P; Stephanie Gisi, EMT-Intermediate; and Brad McKee, EMT-P; recently passed their National Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technician certification from Safe Kids Worldwide. CCH now has eight certified technicians and one instructor on staff. Tracy has been with CCH since September 2015; Jason since May of 2010; Stephanie since May of 2015; and Brad since December 2016.

Successful completion of the CPS course certifies these CCH employees as national CPS technicians for two years. The four-day CPS Certification Course combines classroom instruction, indoor and outdoor hands-on activities, skills assessments with car seats and vehicles, and a community safety seat checkup event.

“Part of our job at EMS is to educate parents, caregivers and their children from sustaining unintentional injuries. A properly installed car seat or child restraint can help prevent a tragedy,” says CCH EMS Director Christopher Beltz, EMT-P. “I’m proud of these individuals for helping to keep our kids safe.”

With Safe Kids Campbell County, these technicians perform free car seat checks in the Campbell County community. Inspections take around 30 minutes. Technicians train parents and caregivers to install and adjust their car seats properly.

Car seat and child safety seat inspections are held on Wednesdays by appointment at the Emergency Medical Services Base, 502 Stocktrail Avenue. Appointments are required. Call 307-688-SAFE (7233) to schedule. Replacement car seats are available for a $30 contribution. Participants are asked to bring their child and the owner's manuals for the vehicle and car seat.
