Lifeline receives $40K from CCHCF Committee

This week, Lifeline received $40,000 from the Campbell County Healthcare Foundation (CCHCF) Festival of Trees Committee. Thanks to the generous citizens in our community, the Festival of Trees Committee had a record year, raising more than $200 thousand at the annual event in November. Because of this, the committee gave Lifeline twice the typical amount they give every year.

“We are aware that most of the subscribers are on a fixed income and paying for this valuable service can stretch their budget. We had such a fantastic year that we wanted to give some of that to those who benefit from the much needed program," CCHCF Director Nachelle McGrath says. "We want to help people remain independent as long as they can.”

Lifeline has been offered through Campbell County Health Home Health for decades. The service, which currently has more than 170 subscribers, helps individuals live at home with the security of knowing help isn’t far away if something happens. Regardless of the service users choose, subscribers can use the Lifeline system for assistance. If it’s an emergency, responders are sent out immediately to check on the individual. Many of Lifeline’s current users are elderly individuals who live alone or are left alone for long periods during the day.

Some 27 years ago, a small group of folks put on Gillette’s very first Festival of Trees to support Lifeline subscribers. Since then, the event has grown to fund numerous projects in the community including scholarships, Hospice, Close to Hospitality House and Lifeline and more.
