Thank you for Working Here Thursday: Brenda Heim, LPN, CCMG Walk-in Clinic

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County, Wyoming community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Allow us to introduce Brenda Heim, LPN, the Clinical Supervisor for the Campbell County Medical Group Walk-in Clinic and Occupational Health in Gillette, Wyoming. Brenda graduated Nursing school in Missoula, Mont., in 1993; she’s worked for CCH for nearly 10 years, but has been in health care for 25 years.

Brenda initially went to college to become a teacher; however, after working as a CNA for the summer in her hometown, she knew she wanted to become a nurse. “The hospital I worked at was a small, rural hospital, so I was able to experience everything from maternal child to long-term care, to the emergency department to pediatrics. This was something that challenged me, and I was able to quickly and easily identify with the healthcare setting. I loved it! I loved helping people and making them feel better. So I decided to go to nursing school my next semester,” says Brenda.

Brenda calls her health care heroes, “All of the providers and staff I work with at the Walk-in Clinic! They take excellent care of their patients every single day. They all work long, hard hours, and they are all dedicated to the Walk-in Clinic and to CCH!” she says.

When Brenda isn’t working, she loves to travel to exotic places. “My husband and I enjoy camping, riding motorcycle, boating, spending time with my 24-year-old daughter and her husband, family and friends and of course our three dogs—two pugs and a lab,” she says.

We asked Brenda what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“I enjoy helping others and making a difference in someone’s day. We also do Occupational Medicine at the Walk-in Clinic, and I am certified in Audiometric testing (CAOHC); NIOSH Spirometry; drug screening collection, and Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT). I enjoy working with the companies and their employees in the Gillette area.

I enjoy working with all of providers, nurses and registration staff at the Walk-in Clinic. We are a great team and we all work very well together. I also enjoy working with other departments and their staff. We all work together to achieve one common goal-doing what’s best for the patient and the community.

To me, excellence every day means dedication to your organization, and dedication to your staff and co-workers. It means treating every patient like they are the only patient. It means doing your very best every single day, and being kind to everyone you encounter for the day, which includes patients and staff—you never know what they are going through, you do not know their story, so we cannot judge their situation. We need to be kind and try to understand what they are going through.”
