CCH Rehab Employee Receives Board Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics

GILLETTE, WY – Brodie Rice, Prosthetist/Orthotist in Campbell County Health’s Rehabilitation Services, recently earned Board Certification from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC of OPP). Brodie is the one of 11 board certified orthoptist/prosthetists in the State of Wyoming. Brodie Rice has worked for CCH since 2013 as a Resident and Intern.

Orthoptist/prosthetics fabricate braces and other devices to provide external support to parts of the body. Orthotics include devices for the lower and upper limbs, back and feet such as arch supports, braces, compression garments, diabetic footwear, lifts for foot drop (orthopedic heel lift), post-op shoes and boots, scoliosis orthoses and many others. Prosthetics are artificial limbs and body parts such as legs, arms, hands and breasts.

Board certification is a voluntary program in which specialists seek to improve their performance and demonstrate a commitment to their profession. To be eligible for board certification, Brodie successfully completed a two-year Master’s program and two-year residency program. Brodie received his education from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Ill., which is associated with the Rehab Institute of Chicago.

The ABC of OPP was founded in 1948 and is the only credentialing board with Category I recognition of its orthotist/prosthetist certification program from the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) in addition to participating in National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accreditation. ​
