Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County, Wyoming community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.
Allow us to introduce Amber Jackson-Jordan, RN, who is a Quality Nurse Reviewer in the CCH Quality and Risk Management department in Gillette, Wyoming. Generally speaking, CCH's Quality department monitors and evaluates trends within the organization, and uses that information to improve our patients' experiences, increase patient satisfaction and ensure patient safety. Amber earned a Bachelor’s of Science from University of Colorado and has worked for CCH for six years—beginning as a volunteer, and then joining the staff at Behavioral Health Services before landing the gig in Quality. Amber has been in healthcare, of some sort, for more than 26 years! She began as a vet tech taking care of animal patients. “It is much harder to take care of patients that can’t speak to you and are various sizes, shapes and species,” says Amber. Later on, she was teaching anatomy and physiology at a community college to nursing students in Colorado, and thought that she could do nursing school. “When I moved to Gillette, I applied to Gillette College’s Nursing Program and went straight to it,” she says. “While in nursing school, I worked for the YES House and fell in love with the idea of psychiatric nursing.”
When asked who her health care hero is, Amber listed two CCH employees. “When I first came to Gillette, I started volunteering at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in both the Emergency Department and the Lab. I was inspired by Lorna Thomas, RN, the ER manager at the time, and Lynn Todd, Lab Manager as they were very encouraging and patient with me,” says Amber.
When she’s not a work, Amber leads a busy life with being a dance and pageant mom, a host mom for exchange students, a Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming leader and serving her community through a variety of volunteer opportunities. “But I also try to laugh and joke while making the most of every day,” she says. “I love being with my family, which includes my husband, five kids and a host of dogs, cats and fish! The best part of life is having fun no matter where you are and inspiring others to do the same.”
We asked Amber what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:
“I love that I get to work with every department at CCMH. I love the whole CCH team from Environmental Services, Nutrition, Childcare, IT – just everyone that plays a little part in the big picture of caring for patients. I love working in Quality because I can work from start to finish on big projects. I also get to interact with all the departments and it is something new every day. Plus, I have the best co-workers imaginable!
To me, excellence every day is looking at how to make things better and safer for patients, no matter where you are looking from. Even from a desk I can help make a difference for patients.”
Indeed, Amber. We are truly grateful for your expertise and willingness to go the extra mile. We are proud to have you on our team.
