Six CCH employees earn wound certification, recertification

GILLETTE, WY – Six Campbell County Health employees recently received Wound Care Certification—or recertification—though the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO). Those who are newly certified include:
- Allison Perry, RN, The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center. Employed with CCH since January 2018.
- Cynthia Prince, RN, The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center. Employed with CCH since April 2016.
- Karla Reichenbach, RN, Campbell County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) Medical/Surgical Unit. Employed with CCH since June 2013.
Those who earned recertification include:
- Audrey Dodson, RN, Home Health and Hospice. Employed with CCH since February 2004.
- Teresa Kessel, PT, Home Health and Hospice. Employed with CCH since August 2008.
- Jenni Miller, RN, Home Health and Hospice. Employed with CCH since January 2001.
These six employees allow for more in-depth assessment and treatment opportunities, as well as interdepartmental collaboration on wound prevention and treatment for patients and residents.
The WCC certification program provides participants with current evidence-based education in the area of skin and wound management and upon completion enables participants to accurately assess, document, identify and plan appropriate and comprehensive patient treatment plans and interventions for wound management. Certification is valid for two years, and individuals must complete a recertification course to keep the WCC certification. Requirements for certification include:
- Active unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Physician or Physician’s Assistant.
- Successful graduate of the WCEI® Skin and Wound Management course.
- Documentation of active involvement in the care of wound care patients, or in management, education or research directly related to wound care while actively licensed for at least two years full-time/four years part-time within the past five years.
- Complete a minimum of 120 hours of hands on clinical training with an NAWCO® approved clinical preceptor after completion of “Wound Management Certification Training Course”
- Receive passing score of 70% or greater on the NAWCO WCC® Examination.
