October is National Physical Therapy Month, and we’d like to take this opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits of physical therapy.
For chronic pain suffers, movement can be brutal and nearly impossible. Pain can provoke an active person into accepting a more sedentary lifestyle, which is counterproductive to pain management. The human body is made to be in motion and moving regularly, in a structured, safe and prescribed manner can improve a person’s quality of life.
Movement experts, or physical therapists and physical therapy aides, help people with countless issues and empower patients to actively take part in their own care. As the most comprehensive physical therapy and rehabilitation center in northeastern Wyoming, Campbell County Health’s (CCH) Rehabilitation Services employs 14 physical therapists and six physical therapy assistants who can help people move better and safely to manage their pain. Personalized plans help the patient understand their pain as well as set realistic goals and expectations that have great impact on pain management.
CCH’s Rehabilitation Services is the only therapy group in Gillette, Wyoming that has a private, heated therapeutic swimming pool. Aquatic or pool therapy is one of the most effective forms of treatment for joint pain. The warm water provides support, reduces impact and weight while soothing tension. Some 80% of the body’s weight is reduced when submerged in water to the chest; hence, reducing impact on sore and painful joints, feet and backs.
Physical therapy doesn’t require a physician referral, and evaluation appointments are available within 24 hours. In addition to physical therapy both on land and in the water, CCH Rehabilitation Services provides care and therapy for:
- Cancer Rehab
- Cognitive Rehab
- Geriatric and pediatric care
- Hand therapy
