GILLETTE, WY – Late Friday afternoon Campbell County Health (CCH) was notified by Campbell County Public Health that the first case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Campbell County. The person is not a patient at Campbell County Memorial Hospital.
The Wyoming Department of Health is working closely with the Campbell County Public Health to monitor and assess the affected patient.
CCH has implemented a Respiratory Symptom Screening Process. Those with respiratory symptoms are asked to call their healthcare provider or 307-688-1000, which is open daily from 7 am-7 pm. The phone screening evaluates respiratory symptoms. Once the person goes through the screening criteria, and only if they meet criteria, they will be directed to a drive-through screening process.
“We continue to work in close partnership with Public Health to help minimize the spread of illness and the risk to healthcare workers,” said Andy Fitzgerald, CEO of Campbell County Health. “Now, more than ever, we urge our community to stay home and participate in social distancing—it’s the best way to slow down the spread of this virus.”
If you have trouble breathing, call 911. If you develop other emergency warning signs, get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include*:
- Difficulty breathing
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion or inability to arouse
- Bluish lips or face
*This list is not all inclusive. Consult your healthcare provider for other symptoms that are severe or concerning.
