The Legacy to allow outdoor visits for families
- Posted On:
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) just issued new guidance on nursing home visitation, allowing The Legacy to begin the process of allowing outdoor family visits. Comprehensive planning is now taking place to allow outdoor visiting to occur safely. The Legacy staff are very excited to be able to re-initiate outdoor visits for residents and families.
Families can schedule an outdoor visit beginning Monday September 21, by calling 307-696-3723.
Appointments are available Monday – Friday and must be scheduled beforehand. Unscheduled visits cannot be accommodated, as there are strict requirements on how the visits may be conducted.
o Symptom screening at the Main Entrance
o Families must provide their own masks for visits
o No more than 2 people at outdoor visits
o Snacks, food, drinks and treats are allowed with window visits
Symptom screening, masks, hand hygiene and six-foot social distancing are core requirements, as well as The Legacy staff monitoring the visit. All visits will be monitored by staff for infection prevention compliance; any touching (hugging, hand holding, kissing, etc.) will result in an immediate end to the visit.
The ability to hold outdoor visiting may be affected by weather and air quality. If visits are impacted by weather or air quality, family will need to reschedule; visits will not be automatically rescheduled or moved to the following day.
The Legacy is currently in consultation with the Wyoming Department of Health regarding a plan to offer indoor visits and expanded criteria for compassionate care visits. Additional visiting information will be forthcoming in the next two weeks.
