Thanks for working here this week: Dessie Hoxie, RRT, RPSGT, Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Center

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Say hello to Dessie Hoxie, RRT, RPSGT, the manager in the Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Center at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. Dessie has worked for CCH for 19 years, and has been in health care for 21.

For those who don’t know, Respiratory Therapy provides comprehensive care and testing for patients suffering from breathing disorders caused by heart or lung disease. And the Sleep Center is specially designed for sleep studies and provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment for more than 70 different sleep disorders. Dessie is the person who makes sure all is working well in these departments.

Dessie was inspired to work in healthcare because she was always interested in the field, and liked helping others. “I was a young single mom who was looking for a career to support my daughter and I. A friend suggested becoming Respiratory Therapist—at the time, I never had even heard of a Respiratory Therapist! I did some research and thought that sounded like an interesting option. I was torn between Nursing, Radiology, and Respiratory. I made my final career decision based upon what program would begin the soonest—respiratory therapy! I am thankful and proud to be a part of this amazing health care field,” she says.

When Dessie isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, daughter, grand-daughter, and two golden retrievers. “Outside of work I enjoy camping, hunting, biking, and vacationing anywhere warm with a beach,” she says.

We asked Dessie what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“What I enjoy the most about working at CCH is the outstanding group of individuals I have the pleasure to work with every day that make up the Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Center Department. Every single staff person in Respiratory Therapy and the Sleep Center exemplify Teamwork and Patient Advocacy. I cannot express enough gratitude for the tireless efforts they have all provided battling COVID this last year. They are true health care heroes!
