Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.
Introducing Melissa Waters, RN, who works in Oncology and Infusion at the Heptner Cancer Center at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. Melissa has worked for CCH for more than six years, and earned her nursing degree from Northeast Community College.
Melissa has always had a passion for healthcare. “I remember playing nurse or doctor as a child, and I loved medical shows growing up. Also watching my late father-in-law battle prostate cancer guided me to be an oncology nurse. I loved the way he was cared for during his treatments and I wanted to return the favor,” she says.
Melissa has many family members who work in healthcare. “I always looked up to my aunts who are nurses, as well as my mother who worked in long-term care and respite care. I admired how hard they worked and the lives they impacted,” she says.
In her spare time, Melissa loves traveling with her family, camping, and cheering on her children at sporting events. “I also love playing volleyball and eating—I LOVE food!” she says.
We asked Melissa what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:
“I love my work family! We have so much fun together but we are also supportive on our tough days at work. Our patients keep me coming back. They look at life differently and I truly cherish my time with them.
Excellence every day means coming to work day in and day out with a smile on my face and trying to really connect with my patients on a personal level. Working in cancer care has changed my outlook on life and I am thankful for each day God gives me.”
Thank you, Melissa for caring for our patients. We appreciate you!
