Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.
Say hello to Tori Long, RN, who works in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. For those who don't know, an ICU is a special department of a hospital for patients who require the most careful degree of medical monitoring and the highest level of medical care. Tori has been in the ICU for one year, but has worked for health care for a little under two years.
“I worked as an LPN while I finished my ADN in an urgent care setting and transitioned to ICU after obtaining my RN license,” she says. Tori earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Wyoming.
Tori was inspired to work in health care because she had an interested in how the body works. “I have always been drawn to—or fascinated by—how the body works, as well as what we can do to manipulate and treat illnesses and disabilities,” she says.
When she’s not at work, Tori likes to be outdoors (when its warm), as well as spend time with her family, lift weights and read.
We asked Tori what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:
“I honestly enjoy the people I am fortunate enough to work with. Transitioning from student nurse to a ‘real nurse’ is intimidating, and the team eased that transition for me by being available and willing to answer questions, or walk me through procedures even when it wasn't the most convenient time for them.
Excellence every day means providing quality care for my patients in the sense of going above and beyond the basic responsibilities of a nurse. It’s putting my best foot forward regardless of the obstacles I may come across.”
Welcome to our health care family, Tori. We are so proud to have you on our team.
