Occupational therapy works to help you get your life back no matter what your health condition. Campbell County Health Rehabilitation Services has a number of occupational health experts available to help you in Gillette, Wyoming.
What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy helps people of all ages do occupations or the things they want and need to do. Occupations are every day meaningful activities. This can include brushing your teeth, walking your dog, maintaining your employment, driving, or making your favorite meal.
Why would I need occupational therapy?
Have you ever had an injury, accident, or new diagnosis that made it difficult to do the things you need or love to do? Arthritis can make it difficult to hold a coffee cup. A broken wrist means combing your hair in the morning is painful. A traumatic brain injury may mean you have trouble returning to your job and socializing with your friends.
An occupational therapist will work with you on your specific goals and develop a unique treatment plan that will improve or maintain your abilities to be able to do what matters to you.
Who are occupational therapists?
Occupational practitioners take a holistic perspective meaning we treat you as a whole person and not just your diagnosis. Occupational therapy practitioners have advanced training in anatomy, psychology, mental health, and use the most up to date research to plan and develop services.
How occupational therapy can help you?
Occupational therapy provides services across the life span from pediatrics, adults, and end of life care. Services and diagnosis can include but are not limited to driving, aging in place, home modification, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, low vision, stroke, traumatic brain injury, autism, sensory processing, caregiver training, fall prevention, and upper extremity injuries.
