Thanks for working here this week: Lisa Konija, RN

Meet Lisa Konija, registered nurse in the Emergency department. Lisa received her Associate degree in nursing from Central Wyoming College, and has received additional certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing (TNCC), and Emergency Pediatric Care (ENPC). She has worked at CCH for five years.
Lisa admits that she had no idea that she wanted to work in healthcare. Her husband had a coworker whose wife was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
“My husband suggested I try it,” said Lisa. “Through the entire course I thought to myself, I can't do this, what was I thinking? When I did my clinicals, I found that I actually enjoyed the work and liked patient care. I worked a few years as a CNA and made my first attempt at nursing school. Life has a funny way of sometimes making things not possible at certain times, so I decided that I wanted a different challenge that was a bit easier to achieve at the time. I got my basic EMT, entered the EMS world, and reached my intermediate level.”
Lisa feels great pride in being where she is today. She started out as a tech in the CCH Emergency department, and is now a registered nurse working with the same group of people that inspired and encouraged her.
“The thing I like most about working in my department is the team that I work with,” said Lisa. “This includes the physicians, nurses, techs, secretaries, and those who work in other departments like EMS, lab, radiology, housekeeping, and admissions. Everyone has become more of a friend than just a coworker; celebrating successes, birthdays, births, marriages, school fundraisers, and all the moments in life that matter most. During my time in nursing school, I received many words of encouragement, texts, and phone calls telling me that I could, and would do it. I believe it's easier to come to work when you are surrounded by those who truly have your back. I believe that is why managing up those around me comes naturally. I'm simply just telling the truth.”
When she’s not working, Lisa just wants to be around her family; traveling, doing outdoor activities, or simply sitting at home watching movies.
“My family has always been and always will be my happy place.”
Thank you, Lisa, for taking great care of our patients every day at Campbell County Health. We appreciate all that you do.
