Thanks for working here this week: Dana Kisiel, RN

Meet Dana Kisiel, registered nurse in Surgical Services. Dana works in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, or PACU, where patients recover after their surgery. She’s been at CCH for 5 ½ years, and worked in animal medicine for over ten years before going into nursing, or as she calls it, ‘human healthcare’.

Dana’s healthcare heroes are her coworkers. She enjoys learning and picks ups shifts in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Emergency Department (ED) on her days off.

“Honestly, I have learned a great deal from my coworkers in these departments, “says Dana. “I am inspired every time I take an extra shift. The nurses I work with are my heroes and inspiration.  Even within my home department I learn little tricks from some of our ‘newer’ nurses. “

For Dana, CCH’s collaboration with students in nursing, emergency medical services, and respiratory therapy gives her pride in her work. She says, “I like to learn and teach, and sharing skills with our next generation is fun.  I feel fortunate that we get to help new healthcare workers.”

The communication within her department and the teamwork is what Dana likes most about her job. “Surgery responds to trauma calls and we have a great rapport with each other when we to get to the ED and assume roles.  We help stabilize the patient to transfer to another facility or to take to surgery.”

To Dana, Excellence Every Day means treating all patients and families the same.

When she’s not working, Dana takes her dogs hiking and camping. She also enjoys spending time with her friends, socializing over dinner or at the movies.

Thank you, Dana, for taking great care of our patients every day at Campbell County Health. We appreciate all that you do.
