Thanks for working here this week: Christie Boer, OTD/, OTR/L.

Meet Christie Boer, OTD/, OTR/L. Christie works at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center, providing occupational therapy services to the residents who call The Legacy home. Christie has a doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University, has worked for CCH for five years, with a total of nine years in healthcare.
Several of Christie’s family members worked in the healthcare field, and she always had a passion for helping others. Christie also has an aunt who is an occupational therapist, who influenced her decision to pursue this career path.
Christie’s healthcare hero is The Legacy’s Director of Nursing, Renee Robidart. “She has helped me grow immensely as a therapist, healthcare worker, and leader”, says Christie. “Renee has challenged me to think outside of the box and encouraged me to do things that I wouldn’t have necessarily done on my own, things that have helped me grow as a person and further develop my critical thinking skills. She strives for excellence every day, and this is apparent in her daily work. She has great leadership skills but is also an invaluable team member. She is my go-to person if I have a difficult question or scenario, and she is great at asking the ‘why’ in any circumstance and looking at situations in an unbiased way. These are all traits that I deeply respect and admire”.
When asked about what she likes most about working at The Legacy, Christie names her coworkers, calling them resilient, flexible, adaptable, and always willing to lend a helping hand. She believes that without her coworkers, she wouldn’t be in her current positions, both professionally and personally.
To her, Excellence Every Day means giving 100% every minute of the day and treating all residents, caregivers, and coworkers like she would her family. She says, “It means always striving to be the best form of myself, challenging myself to improve every day, and treating everyone with dignity, respect, and kindness”.
When she’s not at work, Christie loves spending time with her husband and son, being outdoors doing things like swimming, hiking, backpacking and traveling. She is also an artist and likes photography and soccer.
Thank you, Christie, for helping to take great care of the residents at The Legacy. We appreciate all that you do.
