Thanks for Working Here This Week: Jamie Rask

Meet Jamie Rask, Registration Specialist in the Main Clinic. Registration Specialists make sure patients are registered accurately for their visit and schedule any new or follow-up appointments. Registration Specialists have a broad understanding of clinic function and flow, and are the first point of contact that patients have with the Main Clinic.

Jamie has an Associate of Applied Science degree as a Medical Assistant. She has worked for CCH almost nine years, and been in healthcare for 15 years.

Not all Registration Specialists are Medical Assistants. A Medical Assistant, or M.A., is an allied health professional who supports the work of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other health professionals, usually in a clinic setting. Medical Assistants may be cross-trained to perform both administrative and clinical duties.

Jamie’s healthcare hero is her grandmother. According to Jamie, her grandmother started nursing school right out of high school at the age of 18, and worked in healthcare in some shape or form for over 60 years. Her grandmother actually retired twice, going back to work each time when she realized she wasn’t finished helping people yet.

For Jamie, the best thing about working in the Main Clinic is how well the staff works as a team. She says, “When someone needs a hand, there is always someone there to offer it.”

When asked what Excellence Every Day means to her, Jamie says, “Coming to work every day with a positive attitude and striving to do the best for everyone around you, even when you yourself are not at your best.”

When she is not at work, Jamie enjoys camping, trail riding on her bike, and fishing with her husband, two children and two dogs.
