CCH Cath Lab Receives National Recognition

CCH Cath Lab Builds on a Legacy of Excellent Cardiac Care in Northeast Wyoming

GILLETTE, Wyo. - Aug 26, 2024 - Campbell County Health (CCH) recently reported on its commitment to exceptional cardiac care, highlighting the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab), and highlighting that future announcements would be on the horizon. Today CCH reports back to the community with two exciting announcements. First, CCH is excited to share that it has been honored with the 2024 American College of Cardiology's NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Gold Performance Achievement Award. CCH has consistently received the NCDR recognitions over the years demonstrating CCH's commitment to excellent performance in the quality of care and adherence to guideline recommendations in cardiac care. Additionally, in September, the Cath Lab team will begin exploring new ways to expand its hours of service, with more details to come.

The NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Gold Performance Achievement Award is the result of collaborative efforts across the organization. CCH Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Department physicians and team, Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab, ICU, hospitalists, Med/Surg, and the CCMG Cardiology Clinic have worked tirelessly to maintain this distinction. To achieve the Gold Performance Achievement Award, hospitals must demonstrate sustained high performance in critical areas of heart attack and chest pain care, as outlined by the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry. These areas include timely diagnosis, effective treatment, and improved patient outcomes.

"I’m proud to be leading the only cath lab in Wyoming to be receiving recognition on the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry” said Alyssa Blazek, CCH Cardiac Cath Lab Manager. "Award winning care is available here close to home because of our cath lab team, CCH’s resources, and all those departments we collaborate with to save lives each day.”

The Cath Lab’s work is expansive, but most are familiar with some of their procedures, such as the implantation of cardiac pacemakers and interventions for myocardial infarctions (heart attacks). CCH will be looking for ways to strategically expand the lab’s hours in a sustainable and efficient manner to treat even more patients right here at home. If necessary, CCH is always prepared to swiftly transfer patients to higher-level care facilities, but the organization’s commitment is to keep as many patients local for treatment as possible.

The American College of Cardiology's recognition is a testament to CCH’s efforts to provide the highest quality of care in Wyoming. CCH remains committed to advancing cardiac care across the region and looks forward to reporting back to the community again with further updates on the amazing work the Cath Lab is doing for the Northeast Wyoming region.
