Service Disruptions at CCH; no ETA
- Posted On:
On Friday, September 20 at approximately 3:30 am, Campbell County Health experienced a computer service disruption that was later identified as ransomware. Like many health systems throughout the country, CCH has fallen prey to a very sophisticated criminal attack. The ransomware affected our computer system and our ability to provide some clinical services. Our patients are our highest priority, and we immediately began working with third-party cyber security experts and law enforcement. At this time the investigation is ongoing.
CCH continues working hard to restore our computer systems so we can resume normal operations. We understand response to these attacks can be frustrating for everyone in the community, but we have to be methodical in our response, to insure no remnants of the malware remain on the system. We are doing everything in our power to resolve this as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.
UPDATE: October 7, 2019
All Campbell County Medical Group providers and clinics, Lab, and Radiology are fully functioning. Clinics and care areas are calling patients who needed to reschedule; however, patients are welcome to call-in as well.
Respiratory Therapy continues to not accept outpatients and the Sleep Center remains closed. Wellness is open for walk-in blood draws from 6-11 am daily.

CCH Service Disruption Information
On Friday, September 20 at approximately 3:30 am, Campbell County Health experienced a computer service disruption that was later identified as ransomware. The ransomware has affected our computer system and our ability to provide some clinical services. Our patients are our highest priority, and we immediately began working with third-party cyber security experts and law enforcement, federal, state and local. At this time the investigation is ongoing. We are not releasing some of the details of the attack to facilitate our response to the issues.

UPDATE 9/21, 10:30 am
The Campbell County Memorial Hospital Emergency Department is open and staffed with our expert team of physicians and nursing to assess and evaluate patient care needs. CCH Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has additional ambulances on duty to serve the community. Please call 911 in the event of an emergency.
The CCMH Maternal Child (OB) Department is taking patients on a case-by-case basis. Women who are pregnant and experiencing contractions should call the Maternal Child Department at 307-688-2200 if they have questions or concerns.
Current CCMH Behavioral Health, Home Health and Hospice, Maternal Child (OB), Medical/Surgical and The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center patients are being safely cared for. We are working with regional facilities to transfer patients who need a higher level of care.
The Walk-in Clinic is open Saturday and Sunday from 8 am-6 pm with the last patient taken at 5:30 pm.
Our patients are our highest priorities. We understand this is inconvenient and disruptive. As was described today during a conference call with the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security, ransomware is a very sophisticated criminal attack that restricts access to the affected computer system. At this point in time, there is no evidence that any patient data has been accessed or misused. The investigation is ongoing, and we will provide updates when more information becomes available. We are working diligently to restore complete access to our services.
UPDATE 7:52 pm, 9/20/19
Campbell County Health is very concerned about the security of information and the safety of our patients and employees. We understand the concern that the community has regarding this as well.
Misty Robertson, Chief Nursing Officer, wants to assure the community that current patients are receiving safe care. We are working with regional facilities to transfer patients to if we are not able to provide safe care. The Emergency Department is open and staffed with our expert team of physicians and nursing to assess and evaluate patient care needs. CCH Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has additional ambulances on duty to serve the community. Please call 911 in the event of an emergency.
We are collaborating with the local, state and federal authorities to address this unfortunate incident securely and quickly as we can. We are very thankful for the local support from the City of Gillette, Campbell County Commissioners, Campbell County Emergency Management.
The Walk-in Clinic is open Saturday and Sunday from 8 am-6 pm with the last patient taken at 5:30 pm.
UPDATE: 2:15 pm 9/20/19
