COVID-19 Antibody Testing
Antibody tests check your blood by looking for antibodies, which may tell you if you may have or have had an infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. Antibodies are proteins that help fight off infections and can provide protection against getting that disease again (immunity).
A COVID-19 antibody test may help identify if you were exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19, and if so, whether or not your body has developed antibodies.

Whether you test positive or negative for COVID-19 on a viral or an antibody test, you still should take steps to protect yourself and others by watching your distance (stay at least 6 feet from people not in your household), wearing masks, washing your hands frequently and staying home if you are sick. We do not know how much protection (immunity) antibodies to the virus might provide against getting infected again. Please follow up with your health care provider for any questions you may have.
If I have antibodies, does that mean I won’t get COVID-19 again?
Although having antibodies usually gives immunity from further infection, there is not enough evidence at this point to suggest that people who have antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, are protected against future infections from the virus.
Results from this test will not provide information on whether you can spread the virus to others and should not be used as a basis for diagnosis.
How do I get my results?
Results will be available on the My Health Home patient portal within 24 hours of testing. Wellness staff can assist you with signing up for the patient portal, sign up online at www.cchwyo.org/mhh, or call 307-688-7878. Results can be mailed to a home address and to a medical provider upon request.
