The January Department Discovery shines a light on Campbell County Medical Group's Kid Clinic.
For those who don't know, the Kid Clinic is a collaborative effort between Campbell County Health and Campbell County School District. It's a school-based health center that provides pediatric primary care with walk-in capability as well as counseling services for ALL school age children—pre-kindergarten through 12th grade—in Campbell County and their younger siblings over the age of 2. Currently, the Clinic has eight employees on staff, which includes Valerie Amstadt, PA-C, and three counselors, Theresa Hoffman, PPC; Carie Rose, PCSW; and Brianne Wooldridge, PPC.
The clinic sees patients with immediate needs, such as strep throat or the flu and does follow-up care as needed for ongoing treatment. Counseling services are provided by counselors for a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, divorce or parenting concerns.
"This really is a unique partnership that is the first of its kind offered in Wyoming," says Marlo Dunham, Kid Clinic manager. "We even provide transportation services for children who are enrolled in the school district with help from the district's transportation department. These services are offered from 9 am-3 pm if appropriate consents have been signed by a legal guardian. No child will be denied services based on their inability to pay. We also have on site case management to assist with patient's financial needs."
The behavioral and mental health services of the Kid Clinic has been operating since September 2013, while the primary care services began in March 2014. And, while the Kid Clinic currently provides services for children over the age of 2, they are working to expand and provide care to infants after their first 2-week visit with a pediatrician to help meet the health care needs of the community.
"We take pride in providing a fun environment to ensure that our patients and clients feel at ease when receiving services at the Kid Clinic," says Marlo.
The CCMG Kid Clinic is located at 800 Butler Spaeth Rd., across from St. Matthew's Catholic Church. The Kid Clinic is open Monday-Friday from 8 am-5 pm; the Clinic is closed from noon-1 pm every day for lunch. For more information, call 307-688-8700 or visit www.cchwyo.org/kidclinic.
A big round of applause to the Kid Clinic staff! Thank you for all that you do for CCH and for helping to keep our community healthy.
