Thanks for working here Thursday: Misty Garcia, CCMG Kid Clinic

Campbell County Health is proud of its employees, and we want the CCH family and the Campbell County community to know about the good work that they do for this organization.

Say hello to Misty Garcia, who is a Registration Specialist at the Campbell County Medical Group Kid Clinic. For those who don’t know, the Kid Clinic is a collaborative effort between Campbell County Health and Campbell County School District—this school-based pediatric clinic offers medical care and counseling services for children in our community.

As a registration specialist, Misty schedules appointments, helps gather information from patients to register for their doctor's appointment, and enters that information into their electronic medical record. Misty has gone to college for some business management, and has taken “a lot of courses and training in medical coding, medical billing, collections, Affordable Care Act, Community Health, Medicaid and Medicare along with Grant Writing—and a few others I’m sure I forgot to mention.”

Misty has worked at the Kid Clinic for the last nine months, but has been in the health care industry for about 14 years. “I’ve worked in various practices including pediatrics, family practice, general surgery, plastic surgery and community health, and I’ve worked as a receptionist, coder/biller, office assistant, office manager, office administrator to interim chief executive officer,” she said.

When asked about her health care hero, Misty named Dr. Thomas Spicer, a retired Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Rock Springs, Wyoming. “He taught me so much about coding, billing and business—he had a lot to do with me staying in the healthcare industry. Not only was he an amazing provider, but a wonderful man who took pride in his job and his community and the state that he served,” she said.

Outside of work, Misty absolutely loves to paint. “Murals are my favorite!” she says—Misty painted the mural that is in the Kid Clinic now. In addition to painting, Misty enjoys traveling, and watching her husband race motocross, and spending time with her family. “I married my high school sweetheart of 22 years, and we have two daughters, Alex (21) and Aspen (19). My husband was transferred from PacifiCorp in Rock Springs (where we were both born and raised) on an apprenticeship with Wyodac. We are all getting use to the community and surroundings, which I must say we really like!” she says.

We asked Misty what she likes most about working for CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response:

“I’m so impressed with the idea behind the Kid Clinic, and all of CCH. I am truly grateful for the support that I have received since my first day with CCH. I’ve been treated like I’ve worked here for years—CCH and the Kid Clinic feel like home, and that’s a big deal to somebody new to the community. The Kid Clinic has a great group of people working here; they make my job enjoyable and fun. We have a good time, and really work together as a unit to make sure the care that is needed is getting received from medical practice, counseling practice and the same friendly faces greeting you at each visit. We may be a small clinic but I feel we are doing big things.

To me, “excellence” doesn’t stop, no matter the day or time, at work or at home. And it’s something that we all need to continue working on.”
